In 1981, her parents decided to move to Tasmania, but somehow they ended up in Atlanta, Georgia. When she turned 18, she abandoned her dream of becoming an astronaut and attended the Atlanta College of Art to pursue photography. College turned out to be a rather unfulfilling pursuit and she left to deliver newspapers as the great Albert Einstein once had. Several jobs later, she realized that her original attraction to photography was about being able to tell stories visually and that what she really wanted to be was a director.
